FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything you might want to know before, during and after your care — and if your question isn't here, just ask. We'd rather you ask ten questions than sit on one.

Before you book

Do I need a GP referral to see a chiropractor?

No. Chiropractors are primary healthcare practitioners in Australia, so you can book directly with us — no referral needed.

How do I book an appointment?

The fastest way is through our online booking page, where you can request a time that suits you. You're also welcome to call us — we're happy to answer questions and book you in over the phone.

How do I know if chiropractic is right for my problem?

If you're unsure, call us and describe what's going on — we'll tell you honestly whether we're the right fit. If we're not, we'll point you toward the practitioner who is. Your first appointment also begins with a thorough assessment before any treatment is recommended. You can also browse the conditions we commonly help with.

Your appointment

How long does the first appointment take?

Allow around 45 minutes for your initial consultation and assessment. Follow-up visits are typically shorter. For a full step-by-step walkthrough, see your first visit.

What happens on my first visit?

Your first visit includes a detailed consultation about your history and symptoms, followed by a thorough physical assessment. If treatment is appropriate on the day, we'll discuss it with you first. You'll leave with a clear understanding of what we found and a recommended plan.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing you can move in — activewear or loose casual clothes are ideal. You won't need to change into a gown for a standard appointment.

Treatment & safety

Is chiropractic care safe?

Chiropractic care is a non-invasive approach to musculoskeletal health. Our chiropractors use gentle techniques tailored to your needs and comfort level, screen for anything that would change our approach during your assessment, and always discuss your care with you before proceeding.

What's the 'cracking' sound during an adjustment?

That sound is called cavitation — a rapid pressure change of gas bubbles in the fluid of your joints, similar to cracking your knuckles. It's normal and not a sign of anything breaking or grinding. If you'd prefer to avoid it altogether, we have low-force techniques that don't involve it.

Does treatment hurt?

Treatment shouldn't be painful. Some techniques involve firm pressure, and it's common to feel mild, short-lived soreness afterwards — similar to after exercise. We adapt our techniques to your comfort level, and you can ask us to adjust our approach at any time.

Will I need X-rays?

Usually not. Most conditions can be assessed thoroughly in the clinic. If your history or examination suggests imaging would genuinely change your care, we'll refer you — X-rays aren't a routine step.

How many appointments will I need?

It depends on your condition, how long you've had it, and how your body responds. After your assessment we'll give you a clear, honest recommendation, and we review your progress regularly rather than locking you into open-ended plans.

Fees & health funds

Can I claim through my private health fund?

If your extras cover includes chiropractic, yes. We have HICAPS available for on-the-spot claims — bring your health fund card and you'll only pay the gap.

Is chiropractic covered by Medicare?

In some circumstances. Patients with an eligible Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan from their GP may receive a Medicare rebate for a limited number of allied health visits per year. Speak to your GP about whether you qualify.

What are your fees?

[Fees placeholder — e.g. Initial consultation: $XX · Standard visit: $XX. Many clinics list fees openly and it builds trust; alternatively: "Please call us for our current fees."]

Pregnancy & children

Is chiropractic care suitable during pregnancy?

We use gentle, modified techniques and positioning appropriate to your stage of pregnancy, always as a complement to your midwife or obstetric care. Let us know when booking and we'll tailor your care accordingly. Read more about pregnancy-related care.

Do you treat children?

We see patients of all ages, with techniques modified appropriately for each stage of life. Care for children is always gentle, age-appropriate, and provided with a parent or guardian present.
